Upon hiring a fitness coach, how quickly you get results from your fitness program depends on several things:

  • The clarity of your goal(s).
  • How emotionally connected your are to your goal(s).
  • Your communication with your coach, both in quality and frequency.
  • How much effort you put into your training during your workouts with your coach and on your own.
  • How much of a priority you put on your nutrition.
  • Your sleep quality and duration.
  • How well you manage the stress in your life.
  • How consistent you are with all of the above.

There is a lot that goes into changing your habits, and progress doesn’t happen overnight. If you’re working with an experienced fitness coach, you have the advantage of drastically cutting your learning curve, and reducing the time it takes to get the results you want.

Your coach can’t eat your food or do the work for you. It’s important to understand this is a collaborative effort and honest communication is critical for success. You will get out of this partnership what you put into it. Ask questions often and apply what you learn.

Before reaching out to a fitness coach, spend plenty of time getting clear on your goals and values so you can communicate them clearly. A good coach will always ask you WHY these goals matter to you to gain a deeper understanding of what you will need throughout the process, and how they can more effectively guide you.

I can immediately tell the degree of commitment a person will have to our partnership by how emotionally connected they are to their goals. It’s a red flag when a potential client lacks clarity and enthusiasm around what they say they want. I love working with folks who know exactly what they want, who are excited about it and will put forth the required effort to get there. This makes for an enjoyable and successful experience for both of us.
